I have a great respect for nature and the animal kingdom. I currently share my home with 8 cats, 1 dog, 1 horse (in the barn) and a very patient husband. There have been others who are no longer with us who will always be close to my heart. All of my dear non-human friends have taught me how precious and valuable every living being is on this earth.

I'm mad for color and as a child I can remember just sitting and studying crayons perfectly lined up in the box. I thought they were perfection and I actually spent more time looking at them than actually using them. I wondered if there was a job where I could just sit and look at colors all day. Alas, I didn't find that job and life without a box of crayons took over. Decades later, I discovered mixed media collage. I knew I had found my crayon box again. After a while I decided to merge my two favorite things, art and animals.

The name Watchful Crow is actually from an observation my husband made while walking in our pasture. He noticed there was always a crow, separate from the others in the field, who acted as a sentinel. Whenever my husband would walk up into the field, this crow would call out and the other crows in the field would disperse. Hence the name, Watchful Crow.

Why did I choose to digitally merge animal or bird heads on human bodies? It gives me great pleasure to see these wonderful and odd beings come to life. Although all my creations are whimsical and fun, I also have the slightest hope that people will realize whether human or not, respect and empathy for all living beings is necessary for the survival of all.
